I participated in Fashion Spectrum during the 2022 edition and I learned a lot during this great competition. I was able to improve several skills, including my pitch skills, through case practices with a coach working in the fashion industry, but also with the various workshops. What I liked the most was the different mandate practices and the personal connection we had with the coach assigned to us. Fashion Spectrum was much more than an academic case competition. This student-scale initiative was a gateway to a universe whose tricks I didn't necessarily know, whose characteristics I was able to decode, discover strengths, areas for improvement and new challenges.
I can only advise all those who would have the opportunity to participate, to try their luck, to devote themselves to this full-fledged opportunity for skills development, to take advantage of it to expand their network of business in the Montreal, Quebec and global fashion landscape.

Fashion Spectrum, virtual experience was amazing! We spent months meeting, my team and I, and trying to create the best solutions for the mandate of the company we were working with!
Even though we never saw each other in real life, we bonded and had fun doing it! The most important moment of the mandate, according to, was the moment when we decided which path to take for the design of the strategies, following discussions with our mentor and one of the founders of the company.
From start to finish, we put a lot of effort into it! It taught us to give the best of ourselves and it paid off, because we won first place!

I participated in the 2021-2022 edition of Fashion Spectrum. I loved my experience! It was my first experience in academic competition so I was really happy. Case practices every 2 weeks helped me understand the strategies and structure of a competition pitch. I was able to meet Gontina and Maxine, my two teammates. I have very good memories of it and if I had to do it again, I would do it again without hesitation!!

An extraordinary experience! Fashion Spectrum allowed me to make new friends and encouraged me to become the wonder version of myself. My advice as a student who had the opportunity to be part of the Gorski Challenge, and Fashion Spectrum case competition, is that you have to believe in yourself and do your best. If I have any advice for you, it's to go for it and don't be afraid to participate in Fashion Spectrum. If you want to participate in an academic competition and you love fashion and/or you want to work in the fashion industry later, this is your opportunity. This will allow you to grow as an individual but you will also see your first step into the fashion industry as you meet a ton of recruiters and employees from different fashion industries.

My stellar team and I proudly represented JMSB in the International Business discipline, podiuming with a 2nd place trophy. We were very proud of our final recommendation to Lambert, so it was extremely rewarding to see our strategy appreciated and awarded on stage. It was an even bigger joy to be able to celebrate with other teams from our university - I admired the school pride and competition spirit. The most memorable part of the competition was pitching our presentation to the team at Lambert with our school peers in the background to encourage us and see how we grown in our case cracking skills over the course of the semester.

I participated in the first-edition of Fashion Spectrum in 2019 and was thoroughly impressed by the organization and concept of the event. Montreal is the heart of Canada's fashion industry and the case competition allows students to not only learn about the industry, but to also meet established professionals and crack an exciting case. I was so happy to win first place with my team in the business strategy case for Mackage and receive a generous gift from the company. However, little did I know that there was a lot more in store. In Summer 2019, I completed an internship at Mackage & head office in Montreal and turned my Fashion Spectrum ideas into a reality while gaining valuable corporate work experience. As a McGill student not from Montreal, he was an amazing opportunity to work in the city and meet true Montrealers all while working for one of the city's most famous luxury brands! I have gained an insider-perspective on the fashion industry, built a strong network and experienced a Montreal summer that I will cherish for years to come. I would recommend any student to participate in this wonderful event!

I still talk about Fashion Spectrum when I go in for interviews. It gave me experience dealing with tight deadlines, preparing concepts and ideas off of business briefs and working very closely with a team. It allows me to answer questions more fully and intelligently. All the research that goes into learning about the fashion industry in preparation adds to the knowledge you hold, which allows you to speak on the subject intelligently in interviews and with your peers. The competition complemented my Retail Marketing course and my studies in general. I am a more confident and competent public speaker now and I can't wait to do more.
